A question to consider
On reflective growth:
At the end of a hard week, are you asking yourself what you got through, or what you learned?
Most beginning teachers move quickly from a hard moment to a conclusion about their own ability. That move happens fast and often unconsciously, and once it hardens into a belief, it is difficult to undo. The early years of teaching are when those beliefs form. That is exactly why it matters who is in the room with you when things go wrong.
A practice to try
After a lesson that did not go the way you planned, write down one thing the experience taught you about your students, one thing it taught you about yourself as a teacher, and one thing you might do differently next time.
